Effect of Workload and Organizational Support on Health Office Employee Performance through Emotional Intelligence
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of workload and organizational support on employee performance, with emotional intelligence as an intervening variable at the Health Office of Mamber-amo Tengah Regency.
Research Methodology: This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive and explana-tory design. The study involved 100 employees as respondents using a census technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS to test direct and indirect relationships among variables.
Results: The findings show that workload has a significant positive effect on emotional intelli-gence (t=3.769; p=0.000) and employee performance (t=2.971; p=0.003). Organizational support also significantly influences emotional intelligence (t=2.650; p=0.008) and employee performance (t=2.321; p=0.021). Emotional intelligence has a significant effect on employee performance (t= 3.125; p=0.002). In addition, emotional intelligence mediates the relationship between workload and performance, as well as organizational support and performance.
Conclusions: Workload and organizational support significantly improve employee performance directly and indirectly through emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in strengthening employee adaptability and performance in the workplace.
Limitations: This study is limited to one public sector institution with a cross-sectional design, so generalization is restricted.
Contributions: This study contributes to human resource management literature by highlighting emotional intelligence as a key mediating variable in improving employee performance in public healthcare organizations.
