Manuscript Submission
5 questions
Q1
How do I submit a manuscript to Abnus?
All submissions are handled through our online submission portal (OJS). Select the journal you wish to submit to, log in to your author account, and follow the step-by-step submission wizard. You will need to upload your manuscript file (Word or LaTeX), a cover letter, and any supplementary data.
Q2
What article types does Abnus accept?
We accept original research articles, systematic reviews & meta-analyses, brief communications, letters to the editor, registered reports, and methodology papers. Specific article types vary by journal — please check the individual journal's scope page before submitting.
Q3
How long does the desk review take after submission?
Our editorial team aims to issue a desk decision within 5 business days of submission. If your manuscript passes desk review, the first editorial decision is typically issued within 5–6 weeks. Accepted manuscripts are published as Articles in Press within 10 business days of final acceptance.
Q4
Can I submit to more than one journal simultaneously?
No. Simultaneous submission to more than one journal at the same time is not permitted and constitutes a breach of our publication ethics policy. All submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
Q5
How do I track the status of my submitted manuscript?
You can track your submission in real time via the Author Dashboard in your account. If your manuscript has been in peer review for more than 8 weeks without an update, contact info.abnus@gmail.com with your manuscript reference number.
Peer Review Process
4 questions
Q6
What type of peer review does Abnus use?
The default model across our portfolio is double-anonymous review, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are withheld from each other. Some journals offer an open peer review option. Check the individual journal's policies page for details.
Q7
How do I become a peer reviewer for Abnus journals?
Register as a reviewer by creating an account and completing your expertise profile with subject keywords and your ORCID. You may also contact info.abnus@gmail.com directly to express interest in a specific journal.
Q8
How long do I have to complete a peer review?
Reviewers are typically asked to complete their review within 21 days of accepting the invitation. Extensions are almost always granted if requested via the reviewer portal or by emailing the handling editor.
Q9
Are reviewers recognized or compensated for their work?
Peer review is voluntary and unpaid. However, completed reviews earn verifiable certificates via Publons / Web of Science, and outstanding reviewers are acknowledged annually in the journal's reviewer recognition program.
Article Processing Charges & Fees
4 questions
Q10
How much does it cost to publish in an Abnus journal?
Article Processing Charges (APCs) vary by journal and are only due upon acceptance — there are no submission fees. All APC amounts are listed transparently on each journal's home page before you submit.
Q11
Are APC waivers or discounts available?
Yes. We offer full or partial APC waivers to authors from low- and middle-income countries, authors who can demonstrate genuine financial hardship, and corresponding authors from institutions with an institutional agreement with us.
Q12
When is the APC invoice issued and how do I pay?
An invoice is generated and emailed to the corresponding author immediately upon formal acceptance. Payment can be made by credit/debit card, bank transfer, or institutional purchase order via our secure billing portal.
Q13
Does paying an APC guarantee acceptance?
Absolutely not. APCs are only charged after a manuscript is accepted on scientific merit. Editorial decisions are made entirely independently of commercial considerations.
Editorial Board & Governance
4 questions
Q14
How can I join an editorial board?
Editorial board positions are filled by invitation from the Editor-in-Chief, but we welcome expressions of interest. Email info.abnus@gmail.com with your CV, a brief statement of your relevant expertise, your ORCID, and the journal(s) you're interested in.
Q15
Who makes the final decision on whether a manuscript is accepted?
The Editor-in-Chief or a delegated Associate Editor makes all final acceptance decisions, based solely on the scientific merit of the manuscript. Abnus's operational staff have no authority to override or influence editorial decisions.
Q16
How do editors handle conflicts of interest?
All editors must disclose potential conflicts of interest annually and on a per-manuscript basis. If an editor has a conflict with a submission, that editor must recuse themselves and pass handling to another board member, aligned with COPE guidelines.
Q17
How do I appeal an editorial rejection?
Authors may appeal a rejection if there was a significant error in the editorial process. Email info.abnus@gmail.com within 60 days of the rejection notice with your manuscript reference and a detailed point-by-point rebuttal.
Open Access & Indexing
3 questions
Q18
Are all Abnus journals fully open access?

Q19
Which databases and indexes are Abnus journals listed in?
Our journals are indexed in or actively pursuing listing in: Scopus, Web of Science (ESCI & SCIE), DOAJ, CrossRef, Google Scholar, and PubMed / MEDLINE (health sciences). All articles receive a DOI via CrossRef at publication.
Q20
How is long-term digital preservation ensured?
All published content is archived in Portico, ensuring permanent, long-term digital preservation. We also deposit eligible health sciences articles with PubMed Central and maintain local backups across geographically distributed servers.
