Economic Analysis of Paddy Farming in Limau Asri Village, Iwaka District, Mimika Regency
Purpose: This study analyzes the income level, efficiency, and development constraints of paddy farming in Limau Asri Village, Iwaka District, Mimika Regency.
Research Methodology: A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using a census method involving all 10 active paddy farmers. Data were collected through questionnaires, field interviews, and documentation. Analysis included farm income analysis (Pd=TR−TC), Revenue-Cost (R/C) ratio analysis, and descriptive analysis of farming constraints and government support expectations.
Results: The findings indicate that paddy farming is financially viable, with all farmers achieving positive income. Net income ranges from IDR 37.950.000 to IDR 161.900.000 per planting season, with an average of IDR 77.490.000. The R/C ratio ranges from 5.93 to 12.00, with an average of 8.94, confirming high operational efficiency. However, farmers face several constraints, including limited capital, pest and disease risks, fertilizer availability, market access, and climate variability. Farmers unanimously expect government support through capital assistance, agricultural extension services, subsidized fertilizer, and market guarantees.
Conclusions: Paddy farming in Limau Asri Village demonstrates strong economic potential and contributes to farmer welfare. Nevertheless, sustainable development requires integrated government support to strengthen productivity, input access, and market stability.
Limitations: This study is limited by the small sample size, single-season data, and focus on one village.
Contributions: This study provides empirical evidence on paddy farming income and efficiency as a basis for agricultural policy development in Mimika Regency.
